Nephews being neglected and abused. Colorado.
Location: Colorado
Visited family in Colorado and found out our nephews are being neglected and abused. Their mother came to us about domestic violence, but immediately made excuses for the man. They aren’t married. One of the two kids is his biological son. He’s an alcoholic who hasn’t worked in almost 10 years with the 4 of them living with his elderly disabled father who is also abused. We talked to the kids and the older one told us a slew of things that are defined by Colorado as abuse and neglect. Including harming pets as intimidation, domestic violence in front of them, leaving them both unattended and uncared for, driving intoxicated with them in the vehicle. We had a police escort to grab some things. The mother grabbed her shoes and random shit and the boys nothing. The home looked like a crackhouse. Trash everywhere. Rotten food smeared everywhere. No furniture. The boys rooms had no doors or doors that were splintered from punches.
Now the mother wants to return. The father is pretending that he’ll clean up. They are both at fault. Oldest child is not biologically related to the abuser. The younger is. Is there anything, as the aunt and uncle that we can do? We live in a different state. We would do anything to keep them away from there. Away from him, and even her.
