I believe it's a clue about Ares' return.

Humans becoming violent has all the hallmarks of Ares' influence.

I don't think Kurumada will portray humans as inherently evil.

I believe Athena's absence caused Ares' influence to grow, which is why we see Shun's news reports about violence, crime, and wars increasing.
