The "I have $15 left for food this week" playbook. What are your ultimate survival meals?

Misc Advice

I hit a rough patch this month after an unexpected car repair, and after paying rent, I am looking at exactly $15.42 in my checking account to feed myself until next Friday.

Instead of panicking, I wanted to share my game plan, because I know a lot of us are in this boat right now. Here is how I’m stretching every cent:

The $5 Base: A 5lb bag of white rice and a bag of pinto beans. It’s boring, but it’s complete protein and keeps the stomach full.

The Flavor Saver: A jar of bouillon cubes (cheaper than boxed broth) and a single bottle of hot sauce from the dollar store.

The Veggie Stretch: Canned spinach or frozen peas. They’re usually under a dollar and keep me from getting scurvy lol.

I’m going to make a massive batch of chili-style beans and rice tonight.
