Hypothetically we get giannis... what then?

:vice_logo: Discussion

So firstly gonna assume the deal will be involving herro and jovic contracts. from there I would hope we move jaime and keep ware. give up no.13 likely too. and hope giannis can flex his trade demand, "anywhere else you get a 1 year rental cause I want miami". realistically I would rather give up future picks and keep 1) ware, 2) no.13

the question is how do we fill out the roster. I do not believe in signing Norman Powell unless its on a 2 year contract with nonguaranteed 2nd year or it has a team option. The reason for that is we would be 34.9 million under luxury tax apron. With the potential heightened luxury tax threshold next offseason along with wiggins and Davion contracts expiring we could easily have access to 77.4 million in cap space..... that would be plenty to chase a max superstar in free agency. Donovan Mitchell, Kawhi, Brandon Ingram.... there will be some big names to get a third star on the team.

right now our roster would be giannis, bam, wiggins, Davion, ware, kas, dry smith, myron Gardner, and pelle. Thats 9 players. we likely sign thansasis to a 1 year minimum for giannis so that takes us to 10. 4 roster spots to keep open because we likely keep 1 spot open to be cheap and for buyout players (guy like Kentavious caldwell pope might be interesting or kings could buyout Zach lavine expiring deal so they can tank harder)

Khris Middleton could pay a 1 year lump sum deal to be our 6th man replacement for jaime and further make giannis happy.

Brook Lopez team option could have his team option declined and would make an excellent big man depth piece as well as a mentor to ware. Allows us to play ware with giannis bam in a super big sized lineup or with lopez with those 2. Marvin Bagley would be another guy who had a bounce back year who could add some big depth and plays pf and center to come off bench but probs wants longe term deal.

kenrich williams is a solid 2 way combo forward who might have his team option declined to save the thunder on their mega luxury tax bill.

if not a fan of starting pelle could grab a guy like Keon ellis who compares to lu Dort with tough defense but better. or Gary Trent jr who could decline his cheap player option minimum in Milwaukee and come here to be a 3 shooting starter. couldn't be worse on defense than norm lol

what I don't believe in is signing norm to that long term deal. Got a high sense of belief that giannis+ bam could recruit someone to this team with that cap space.
