EG4 Hybrid Solar Mini Split - 220v or 110v?
50 year old contractor (low voltage...like network/AV projects). For the last month, been going down the rabbit hole researching of installing solar for my residential house. Not too interested in getting a ROI as I am solo (no wife/no children), within reason.
Going to be constructing a 18'x30' timber frame carport for dual purpose: vehicle protection from the elements + solar panel array, instead of the original thought of slapping panels up on my 2 story house. Timber framing = spendy! $1,500'ish for 12" Makita planer, $3000 chain mortiser, etc. But, will be a fun project.
Signature Solar is going to have a distribution / retail warehouse at the end of 2026 here in Reno, NV. Great for me! Should be a nice thing to travel 10min with my truck and pick up whatever I need on the spot. Saves on shipping too!
For now, I am looking at the EG4 Hybrid Solar Mini-Split for areas around the house that the house A/C struggles with (tract 2 story home, so probably minimum tonnage for a/c size). I would like to stick with the EG4 ecosphere because most likely going to get their 12k hybrid inverter for the car port solar panel array.
What would be the pro's / con's of a 220v EG4 vs 110v EG4 Solar Mini Split? Is it just the lower input amp needs with the 220v EG4?
