Halal to Watch a copyrighted Course Shared by Someone Who Downloaded It When It Was Free?
Assalamu alaikum,
I have a question about a sales course that was originally free but is now partly behind a paywall.
Someone shared the paid section with me after downloading it when it was still publicly available for free. I did not bypass any paywall, hack anything, or access anyone else's account. It was simply shared with me.
The company now says the content is copyrighted and may not be shared. I contacted them for clarification but received no reply.
I only want to watch it privately for personal learning and will not redistribute or sell it.
Would it be halal for me to watch it, or is it impermissible because it was shared without the company's permission?
Jazakum Allahu khayran.
