AITA for texting my ex “may the best bitch win”?

I (35F) was seeing a woman for about 3 months. We talked every day, spent hours on the phone, saw each other multiple times a week, and were very much acting like a couple. It was like high school all over again. We were literally falling asleep on the phone because we didn’t want to say goodbye. We were in each others skin and we still couldn’t get enough of each other.

A week ago she ended things abruptly because she had reconnected with an ex and wanted to see if there was still something there. An ex who had ended things many many times before and I feel only came back after she found out about me.

The breakup completely blindsided me… One day we were talking constantly, and she was telling me she missed me too and the next, she was telling me she was open to reconciliation with her ex.

Her ex had apparently been trying to get her back for a while. They’d gone through periods of no contact, reconnecting, fighting, and trying again. From my perspective, a big reason she was willing to explore things with her ex again was because her ex never really stopped fighting for the relationship.

So after the breakup, I was hurt, but tried to be understanding and kind even until the end. But, then I woke up today and basically decided I wasn’t going to quietly disappear either because no one is being considerate of me.

I told her I thought she deserved better than her ex. I told her I knew she had made her decision, but I wasn’t ready to just accept it without at least letting her know where I stood.

Then I sent: “May the best bitch win.” because look what fighting and not taking “no” for an answer got the ex.

I wasn’t trying to insult her ex.

She actually called me because of the text and I doubled down on why this girl didn’t value her and I wasn’t letting her just go off into the wind. I basically said eff whatever boundary you’re trying to place.

Ultimately I know it’s not my choice and I’ll have to accept that.

Some of my friends think it was funny and romantic. Others think it was messy because she had already made her choice.

AITA?
