Built an app after a $689 garbage disposal died exactly 30 days past warranty

Got home one day to a seized motor and no disposal. Dug through emails, old receipts, photos—nothing. Spent 90 minutes trying to figure out if the warranty was even still active. Called the manufacturer. "Nope. Expired 30 days ago."

Tried using Notes, spreadsheet, filing receipts in a folder. Always something missing—no expiration date, no claim details, photos buried somewhere on my phone. Then I'd need something and spend 20 minutes searching.

So I built Shelft. Snap a receipt, it auto-fills warranty info, and you get alerts 30, 14, 7 days before expiry. One tap generates a PDF claim packet you can send straight to the manufacturer.

It's free (just iCloud), $3.99/mo premium adds multiple devices and family sharing.

Honest take: photos aren't auto-OCR'd yet—still testing that. Receipt formats are getting there but not universal. Claim packets are templates you send yourself, not auto-submitted. But it solves the exact thing that burned me.

What'd I miss? What would actually help you track this stuff?
