Rant but also seeking advice pls: where to start on PMOS/PCOS journey?
I sighed just reading at my own title. I really will try to not rant as much because more than that, I want to at least find a way to manage every little thing I have thanks (probably) PMOS/PCOS.
I’ve gained so so so much weight and so rapidly despite being on metformin. I had checked my hormones before and I have both high levels of insulin and prolactin. I have also the immune and nervous system of a toddler so I’m constantly anxious, bloated. Literally there’s always something in my body that hurts. I have a lot of acne in my neck and chest. My bones sometimes hurt. It is such a huge physical toll. Despite me being very active (I go to college and my campus is big + on a hill + I take the bus + walk home) so I really don’t understand why I’m gaining weight.
I’m about to be 24 and honestly this is no way of living life.
I think that the mental toll is what makes the physical toll heavier/worse. I’ve been diagnosed with so many things. Anxiety, depression, PTSD, BPD, ADHD, OCD. It’s a lot in my mind. Not to mention, I’m dealing with copious amounts of unresolved grief ever since last year.
And the fact that I have to figure out how to somewhat reverse most of my symptoms with absolutely no support from anyone.
A doctor recommended I take a GLP1 but I don’t know. I’m in the fence plus I’m scared of the side effects.
Yet I don’t know where to start. I want to have a sense of a foundation before I start my classes in the fall. What do I do? Like do I go to the nutritionist? To my psychiatrist? To the doctor? To my endocrinologist?
I know I can’t ask for medical advice here, but I’d really appreciate if I could get a sense of direction in this journey. Sorry for the rant but I don’t know what to do anymore. Honestly wish someone just told me word for word how to go on about this. PCOS is so frustrating and heavy on my body and soul.
