Travel abroad+I-130
So I just got an email from NVC today saying my I-130 was approved and my case got transferred to them. My brother (USC) filed it back in 2009 under F4, priority date September 14, 2009. Checked the June 2026 bulletin and I’m current under Dates for Filing.
I’m on F1, living in NYC, no unlawful presence, clean history. Plan is to file I-485 AOS soon.
Problem is I have a flight to Mexico booked June 15-21 (round trip, flying not land border) that I planned way before any of this happened.
Few questions:
1. Is re-entry actually risky given the I-130 approval + current priority date combo?
2. Can airport CBP literally see the NVC transfer in their system?
3. Anyone travel in a similar situation and come back fine?
4. Better to just postpone and file I-485 first?
Have an attorney consult lined up but wanted to hear from people with real experience. Thanks
