Help wanted for typing fast w/o looking down at the keyboard
Hi all, Iβm beyond embarrassed to be part of the younger generation and not know how to properly type. I want to work a job where one of the main responsibilities is typing at a reasonable to fast speed, and Iβm mainly nervous about applying because Iβm not confident in my typing skills.
Right now Iβm at around mid-30s WPM, but I donβt really use proper touch typing. I ignore the tactile indicators and shift my hands around (for example, Iβll type letters on the left side of the keyboard with my right index finger when it feels easier). I also have to look at the keyboard while typing. I think I mostly know where the keys are through muscle memory, but Iβve gotten into the habit of looking. Additionally, my pinky fingers donβt really do any typing.
It'd be great if I could get to high 40s- low 50s wpm. Any advice to help me change this as soon as possible would be really appreciated. Thanks.
