Got Written Up for the First Time. For a Liie About Stealing

Medium

This afternoon I had gotten written up for the first time with two of my managers present. It was absolutely humiliating and I even started crying (which made me feel even worse). One of the concerns they brought up was, apparently, "multiple people" had witnessed me stealing martini glasses. From the bar. I am a hostess. I only ever go behind the bar counter when I'm returning glasses on busy nights. I have a pretty distinct way of styling my hair, so I can't imagine someone else was mistaken for me, but I don't know who would have it out for me to blame me for theft, especially if it was supposedly multiple people. I'm not super close to any other staff, but I try to be friendly with everyone. We don't have cameras anywhere in the restaurant, so I can't ask them to review footage. What am I supposed to do, take a manager home and show them my glassware shelf? I kept trying to defend myself, but I kept getting cut off and was handed a written statement form, and was told they would collect other statements. I don't want this to escalate but I have no idea what to do. I've been working here for over two years, and I have no idea who even reported me.

UPDATE 6/8/26: The day after, it went completely unmentioned, until I was about to clock out. The GM pulled me aside to say the case was dropped because it was unsubstantiated, and she implied it was just one person (which makes me even more confused based on what was said yesterday). She also said she wasn't mad and I'm not in trouble which makes me think she heard I cried which is embarrassing but I am relieved. I had made a burner because it was late at night and for some reason I was paranoid? That a coworker would somehow trace it back to me even if 95% of the staff don't know what happened, and probably don't use Reddit? Anyways, I work for a Darden restaurant, if that clears any doubt. I didn't realize people came to this subreddit of all places with fake stories, I was surprised by the suspicion. Considering this was the first time I've ever really been in serious trouble, and it was immediately dropped, I don't think I should immediately look into quitting, but I really appreciate everyone's concern! I mainly just came here to vent about what had happened.
