One of the biggest mistakes I see Japanese learners make is setting a university goal without knowing whether their current Japanese level actually matches the admission requirements.

Questions like:

❓ “Can I study in Japan with N3?”

❓ “Do I need N1 for university admission?”

❓ “Which universities are realistic for my current level?”

❓ “Should I focus on improving my JLPT score before applying?”

are asked over and over again across Reddit, Discord, and study-abroad forums.

The problem is that the information is scattered across hundreds of university websites, and it’s difficult to know where you stand.

So I built a JLPT University Match Finder on GyanMirai.

🎓 Simply select your JLPT level (N5–N1), and the tool helps you explore universities and study pathways that may align with your current Japanese proficiency.

What surprised me while researching this was that many learners assume they need N1 for everything. In reality, different universities and programs have very different language expectations, and understanding that can save years of unnecessary stress.

Whether you’re:

✅ Preparing for your first JLPT exam

✅ Planning to study abroad in Japan

✅ Looking for undergraduate or postgraduate opportunities

✅ Trying to figure out your next language-learning milestone

this tool can help you build a more realistic roadmap.

I’d genuinely love some feedback from the community:

• What’s your current JLPT level?

• Are you learning Japanese for university, work, or personal interest?

• What’s your dream university in Japan?

• What information would make a university-matching tool more useful for you?

I’m continuously improving it based on feedback, so feel free to be brutally honest. 🙂
