How can I download music (MP3 or MP4)

Hi guys, looking for some support here. I would like to download some music on my laptop and save on USB Memory stick to listen in my car.

Please advise which safe free software I can download on my laptop that can support this and the procedure to follow. I want to download both MP3 and MP4 music. Thanks
