Do people still care about radio in the car, or has it just moved online?
While many claim traditional radio is dead, it’s more accurate to say the medium has evolved, not the desire for the content. People still want what radio does best: local news, sports, weather, niche music, and the serendipity of discovering random stations you won't find on Spotify. The real limitation has always been FM range—once you drive away, your favorite station cuts out.
This is why internet radio on an Android head unit is so compelling. With a constant data connection, apps like TuneIn or the S8 Gen4’s built-in SSRadio transform your car stereo into a global receiver. It’s an ideal setup for road trips, expats, or anyone who loves browsing international broadcasts. Of course, the counterargument is that most drivers just default to Spotify or podcasts via their phones. Does built-in internet radio actually change your daily drive, or is it just a novelty feature?
