First encounter with Delillo

💬 Discussion

There’s an old post on here which is rather harsh on Dellilo, and though I intend to trend lighter I feel myself agreeing with it slightly. I am an aspiring author to say the least and my favorite authors are James Joyce and William Gaddis, the recognitions is my favorite book and I’ve read Ulysses three times this year. I recently read Gravity’s Rainbow for the first time last month and it is the only Pynchon I have read but I did really love it. I am currently reading Underworld by Delillo for the first time and it is my first Delillo I have attempted and while I am only 200 pages in I find myself thinking it is akin to Pynchon but more tame. I don’t know if this will continue but I was wondering if anyone else felt this. I am reading more to help my own writing and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this. Thank you.
