help me decide
I wanted some advice regarding my UPSC preparation and career. This was my second UPSC attempt, and I have already dedicated almost two years to preparation after graduating in 2024. I was prepared this year as well, but the paper was quite different from the usual pattern, so I am not very confident about the result.
Now I am confused between two options.
The first option is to take one more full year and prepare exclusively for UPSC. However, if I do not clear next year either, I will be around 27 years old with no work experience and no independent source of income. Sometimes I worry that I may regret not starting my career earlier.
The second option is to take up a job and prepare alongside it. Through family contacts, I have a good opportunity to get a job, possibly in a company related to the defence sector. The concern here is that if the job turns out to be very demanding, I may not get enough time for preparation. In that case, if I do not clear UPSC, I might regret not giving one final attempt with full focus.
I am also considering whether gaining work experience first and possibly pursuing an MBA later would be a better long-term path.
Given these circumstances, what would you do if you were in my position?
