How do you find a good doctor who takes you seriously?
I've had 3 different GIs and 2 GPs give up on me and tell me it's psychosomatic/IBS, and I should just eat more fiber and take an antidepressant. I can't afford functional medicine, I need tests that are covered by insurance, but they won't give me any. I feel like I'm losing my mind. I feel like I know more about my the gut than they do. I am so jealous of people who have competent doctors that take them seriously. I just want to figure out my root cause but it feels so impossible and hopeless. This time I finally got xifaxan + metronidazole but I'm afraid to take it because of how hard and expensive it was to get, and I feel like since I haven't figured out my root cause, and prokinetics haven't helped me, it would be pointless and come right back. I'm tired of talking to Claude AI for hours trying to make sense of it all. I want a real person.
