Synopsis:

The narrative unfolds in a modest Seoul apartment, home to Hwang Dong-man and Hwang Jin-min. Jin-min carves out a living as a welder and a part-time napa cabbage harvester. Dong-man, after two decades of failed attempts to debut his own film, toiled as cleaning staff in a restaurant and occasionally as a teacher.

Central to this story is the "Eight Club," a circle of eight friends who, unlike Dong-man, successfully navigated their way into the film industry as directors. They would frequently gather at AGIT, a venue owned by one of their members, Ko Hye-jin, who also served as CEO of KO PARK Firm. These gatherings, filled with drink, food, and conversation, were perpetually overshadowed by Dong-man's envy, jealousy, and caustic remarks—a bitter overcompensation for his lingering failure and anxiety. After two decades of enduring his presence, the friends unanimously decided to sever ties, banning him from AGIT and all further contact. His constant negativity and perceived failures had worn them down, leading to his repeated abandonment. Yet, amidst this collective dismissal, Jun-hwan remained steadfast in his support for Dong-man, understanding the man beneath the surface—his pain, loneliness, and profound fear of abandonment.

In stark contrast, Eun-a emerged as a sharp, intelligent, and highly capable production director at Choi Film. Her incisive, often brutal critiques of screenplays earned her the moniker "Ax." Unflappable in the face of adversity, she navigated challenging situations with remarkable composure. Her exceptional skills and capabilities, however, proved threatening to the CEO of CHOI Film, who subjected her to bullying and mistreatment. Despite this, Eun-a never retaliated, silently grappling with the dual traumas of her childhood and ongoing workplace harassment.

Eun-a and Dong-man shared a peculiar commonality: an emotion-monitoring watch that intensely displayed their current feelings. Eun-a wore hers to decipher the emotional triggers behind her frequent nosebleeds, while Dong-man was unwittingly persuaded into trying his by a filmmaker friend.

As their paths intertwined, they began to acknowledge each other, gradually finding comfort, understanding, and solace in one another's presence. Moments spent alone together brought them a rare happiness. Their bond and mutual comprehension deepened, leading them to offer each other unique forms of support. Eun-a meticulously reviewed Dong-man's screenplay, offering critical insights, detailed notes, and specific areas for improvement, helping him identify and rectify its flaws. Dong-man, in turn, became a constant source of support for Eun-a, whether through phone calls or in-person meetings, especially during her nosebleed episodes when she desperately needed someone by her side.

Throughout this narrative, each character grappled with a complex tapestry of emotions: hatred, misunderstanding, jealousy, blame, failure, emotional wounds, and deep-seated traumas.

Ultimately, however, every character found their own version of a happy ending. The most compelling aspect of the story was the profound character development—observing how each individual confronted their issues and pain, navigating life's challenges to ultimately realize their full potential.

This is undoubtedly a must-watch. To avoid lengthy exposition or spoilers, I urge you to experience it for yourself.
