On the Subject of theIGL:
Quickly prefacing this by saying I have a little north of 150 hours and am Archon 6 atm (climbed all the way from low Alchemist) with a nearly 60% win rate. Most games, I quickly get on the mic and am making shot calls as the in game leader because nobody else will, and I find that almost always do my games go better when I or someone else is IGL.
‐-----------------------
Anectodtally speaking, I think something extremely valuable that a lot of players in Archon and below tend to ignore is being communicative with their team in general, and as a piece of advice for people looking to climb: **Whenever your team does not have an IGL, take the lead and be on comms to your team making calls.**
Frequently it happens that one or more players on your team are not noticing opportunities for pushes, ganks, invades, etc. And occasionally they aren't noticing that their team backs out.
I've found a lot that nobody wants to talk to each other and it often leads to miscommunication, overextension, and just generally poor fundamentals when it comes to co-positioning and prioritizing objectives - It is on YOU to help your team out by being the in game leader if this happens.
-----------------------
Conversely, if you are in a game where someone else is IGL, make sure to get vocal with feedback! Nobody has all of the information, and it has been too often that I am the only one saying anything all game only for someone to, after the fact, tell me I made a bad call. And that is frequently true! I am not perfect, after all. But if your IGL is making a call and you think it's the wrong call, SPEAK UP with your contrary position and declare your intent so your team doesn't dive into a bad situation that you could have prevented by giving a contrary opinion.
Team cohesion is so extremely important for this game and I'm absolutely appalled by the unwillingness of players to communicate in order to facilitate said cohesion. BE THE DIFFERENCE MAKER and your win rate WILL go up.
-----------------
TLDR; Talk to your team. Declare your intent, and if someone else is talking, give them feedback! Trust your game sense and that of others and together you will win more games!
