been thinking about how Bear's wish was worded

Not sure if anyone's talked about this on here but what kept nagging at me was the line "more than anyone else in the world".

At face value, it a simple superlative, but really it looks for a standard to love Bear more than. So who is it that Nikki has to "outlove" to fulfill that wish? Among the characters, the first one who comes to mind is Sarah, but Sarah's affection for Bear never seemed to even touch obsession. The one who's love for Bear did show that was none other than Bear himself. Throughout the movie, Bear tries to make things work out for himself, without consideration for how it affected his friends, and never truly taking responsibility for his wish. Even talking to a trapped and begging Nikki, he comes up with the self-serving "what's so bad about being with me?" Only when someone died did he actually start to try to make things right.

So, Nikki having to love Bear more than anyone in the world meant Nikki having to love Bear more than he loved himself.
