How long should the talking/dating stage be?

In early April, I met this guy through a friend at a college event. I was the one who reached out first on Instagram, and since then, we’ve been on 5 dates (almost 6) over a little more than 2 months.
I was wondering how long the talking/dating stage usually lasts. Also, lowkey, we haven’t held hands or kissed yet. The most we’ve done is hug. Although I do believe hand-holding is going to happen on our next date since we’re going salsa dancing.
I’m not expecting us to become official for at least another month, but do you think we’re taking things really slow?
Not sure if this matters, but I know he’s had at least one ex, and I’ve never been in a relationship.
