Strange Case - looking to spread awareness and seek advice
I fear my doctor misdiagnosed me 8 months ago:
October 2025:
- .5mg alzaprolam (Xanax) for work related stress (long hours) to be taken 2x a day if need be. Will try not to bore anyone with details, but it worked TOO well. It was similar to cannabis, but minus the anxiety and inability to do your job. Now to reality ->
April 2026:
- 6 months later I needed to consume 1mg just to operate. This “work related stress” that was supposed to be treated eroded into my ability to function, my relationships, my career, etc. As a 26 year old, I had never been prescribed anything of this nature besides antibiotics. At this stage, now my care provider bumps me to 1.5mg given my sheer panic
June 2026 (now)
- I am writing this as the 1.5mg has now 0 positive effect. My eyes are hollowed and I have a genuine disdain for life. I don’t even remember the days.
What kind of sick joke is this? Fully aware that a detox is in the scope, but my career would be over. Is there any way to pull the great taper off? Does anyone have objective tips or tricks to avoid the possibility of dying/wanting to die while you come off it? It’s ruining my life.
Happy to answer engage in any dialogue. My finds:
- Pot has somewhat helped mask the anxiety late into the night if need be, but you have to be mindful it’s a psychoactive
- alcohol will make it worse
- nicotine makes it worse
- Magnesium glycinate is helpful
- L theanine has its advantages
- Stay away from caffeine
- Stay away from scrolling the apps (slept on)
Hoping someone can throw another find in the hat. This stack does not prevent the suffering. Thx
