Landing gear question - Toronto to BOS

A320-200 Air Canada …

Flight took off late night Sunday

Right after takeoff, they announce that the landing gear will come out for a bit and (a little muffled.. the announcement) and that there will be vibrations and loud sounds.

First time for me… and then they announced nothing to be concerned about.

What was happening?
