How would you finish the top part of a 350cm wide IKEA PAX wardrobe reaching 270cm ceiling?

help

Hi everyone,

I’m planning an IKEA PAX wardrobe build and I’d like some advice on how to handle the top space.

My wall dimensions are:
Width: 350 cm
Depth: max 60 cm
Height: 270 cm

I plan to use PAX frames (236 cm height), so I will have about 34 cm of unused space at the top.

My current idea is:
4 PAX sections (around 100 + 75 + 75 + 100 cm)
Build the wardrobe up to 236 cm with PAX
Then add a custom top box (around 34 cm high) across the full width
This top section would be used for storage (suitcases, seasonal items, etc.)
Ideally I would add doors or a clean finish so it looks built-in up to the ceiling
I want it to look like a built-in wardrobe, not just stacked boxes with a gap.
My questions:

1.What is the best way to finish the top section?

2.Should I go with custom MDF/PAL cabinets, IKEA METOD cabinets, or just open storage with doors?

3.Has anyone done a full ceiling-height PAX build (~270 cm)?

4.Any tips or mistakes to avoid?

Any advice, photos, or real experiences would be really appreciated.

Thanks!
