Avoiding temptation

NSFWMarriage & Dating

Request for prayers

My fiancé and I have been preparing for marriage since our engagement in August 2025, and our wedding is coming up in August 2026.

After getting engaged, we made the decision to abstain from sex until marriage. We were successful for about four months before we fell into sin. We went to confession, recommitted ourselves, and put stronger boundaries in place, including avoiding being alone together and limiting physical affection.

A few months later, we failed again. Once more, we went to confession and had a serious conversation about why we wanted to wait and why those boundaries were important.

Recently, while packing up his bedroom before his move into the apartment we’ll live in after the wedding, we ended up alone together for a few hours. We didn’t have sex, but we went further physically than we should have, and I feel very guilty about it.

We do not live together and won’t be living together until after the wedding.

I think what frustrates me most is that we are only about 60 days away from our wedding. I was the one who initially suggested waiting because I truly want to receive the Sacrament of Marriage with a clean conscience and be in a state of grace. Looking back, I regret not waiting until marriage from the beginning, because once you’ve crossed that line, maintaining those boundaries becomes much harder.

I don’t blame my fiancé at all. We are equally responsible whenever we give in to temptation.

What weighs on me most is the fear that I am abusing God’s mercy by continuing to sin and then returning to confession again and again.

Please pray for us that we would have the strength to avoid temptation, remain faithful to our boundaries, and stay in a state of grace until our wedding day.

Any advice is welcome

Thank you, and God bless.
