how do you guys build stuffs on your own?

(my english is not good, sorry in advance) hi so this might be really stupid but I really don't know how to make stuffs on my own? i created a survival world recently, I did normal stuffs like mining, getting diamonds and all. now the thing is I want to create a town but I don't want to watch YouTube videos because I just want my world to be original like watching some tutorials and copying it makes it feel like I'm just not learning anything and copying from other worlds. im really bad at building houses. basically i want to create a villagers town where I'll make houses for each and every villager in my town. i just want to know from all those who builds pretty cool stuffs without watching YouTube videos how do you guys do it? and how do you get ideas that you will make this and this thing will look good like I just want to know how to build cool stuffs like mansions, towns, houses on my own. i know this is really a stupid question to ask but I'm just curious
