Back tatoo itches badly after 8 months

Hi,

I got a back tatoo last November (2025), it covers almost all my back and has thick lines.

It has healed pretty well but since then, sometimes it itches SO BAD it hurts. When it happens I just lay and deep breath waiting for it to pass.
For exemple If I scratch it with my nail or I use a towel after a shower it would trigger the itching.

Not my first tatoo.

I went for advise but only was told to put ice on it, to keep hydrating it ( no perfume etc.), natural soap with few ingredients. Yes it can help a bit easing it, but I would like it to stop. I cannot imagine having to deal forever with this sensation??

I am about to go to the doctor to get a dermatologist appointment.

Has anyone experienced this? And how have you solved this ?
