Question for the tanker yankers..
Hello to my favorite group.
I have a question for the tanker drivers. How much experience did you have to gain to land a local job, whether it be in a 48’ - 53’ or a vac truck? I mean- a job that you can literally make a decent living with and make a career? I currently live in Jersey and have been getting my tank experience with Schneider bulk, hauling hazmat on the EcoLab account, non hazardous chemicals, and food grade. I’m OTR and also drive in and out of Canada.
My goal is to move to Dallas, TX sometime next year and land a local job out there, but I need to make decent money to save for that move. Realistically it may take about 2 years to make that move. I have 4 months experience driving bulk tankers and 3 months driving dry van. My pay is so inconsistent and my dispatcher is so moody. It’s like my pay is based off her moods and I’m honestly ready to go back into the real world and catch back up on my life, even if I have to work 2-3 jobs.
Please say something that’ll enlighten me because I’m at my whits end with Schneider. I literally put my life into getting my CDL- like lost my home and everything. I need advice.
