Honeymoon in Italy?! What do you think?

Soon to be wife (32) and I (27) are heading to Italy for our honeymoon. Our intial plan was to do some sightseeing/touristing for the first part then a fair bit of relaxing before returning to Australia. The itinerary is a bit back and forth in terms of north/south but that was what he had to do for accom. My partner has done Italy before and I have some places I would really like to see (Vatican, colosseum, pompeii) and she would love to make it to Chianti whilst we are in Tuscany.

I am well and truly open to suggestions and alternatives for any part of the trip. We don't necessarily need the tourist hotspots of Como etc but do want some fairly premium accomodation/locations due to it being our honeymoon.

Sept 3-6: Rome (Accom two streets from Colosseum)- plan to sight see during this time. We are booked to see Vatican on the 4th and wanted to get into The Necropolis but I don't think it is open or available on this date. We have not yet booked a tour for the Colosseum and I see they are cancelling a lot so will probably of a self guided tour.

Sept 6-8: Sorrento (Yacht Club accom) - Sorrento is mainly as a base to visit Pompeii on the 7th. Any suggestions for Tours or is it better to self guide? I am very interested in the history of Pompeii and could probably walk around for hours. We plan to travel by Train/Ferry to Sorrento from Rome

Sept 8-11: Florence (cosy apartment with terrace overlooking Duomo) - we will likely visit the Duomo and a few museums during this time. We also have several wine windows/sandwich shops to visit and just general exploring as Florence is my partners favourite city.

Sept 11-13: Venice (Venetian room in Castello on a little canal) - we have not planned much during the Venice stint yet. Mainly exploring and the usual sightseeing. Open to suggestions for venice.

Sept 13-16: Lake Como (Vassena) this is where the relaxation part of our Honeymoon begins. We would love to explore the little towns along the Lake while we are there. We probably won't go to Como itself.

Sept 16-20: Santa Margherita Ligure (Hotel Metropole) - pretty self-explanatory... 4 days of spas, suntanning and relaxing. Open to suggestions if there's anything in particular we should do while here

Sept 20-24: Tuscany (Vaglia) - intially this was booked for more relaxation however I have since found so many nice towns and places we would love to visit however alot of them and south of Florence so we are not sure whether we should change the accomodation for this leg of the trip. Chianti, Dario Ceccehini and the Saturnia Hot springs. We are looking at hiring a car from Florence and driving but this may be a little difficult. Has anyone had experience with hiring cars through Turo?

Sept 24-25: Rome (accom near Roma Termini)

We will be visiting Wisdomless Tattoo on the 24th but otherwise just a quick stop before a return flight on the 25th

In short - do you think there are too many stops, keeping in mind the aim is to sightsee then relax? Is there anything you would change for a honeymoon? Has anyone had experience hiring a car through Turo and driving through Tuscany? Should we change our accomodation location in Tuscany?

Any help or insight is greatly appreciated. We are so excited to visit Italy!
