I Work Hard and I Still Can’t Afford to Move Out

Despite graduating from college without any loans, and working full time, I’m still living with family because I can’t afford to move out.

I work full time for a state university so I’m a state employee. I make a little over $2k every month. The rent here is about $1,600. Because it’s a college town, most apartments are student-only so I can’t apply. Even the ones that aren’t, are per bedroom rent. So if I had a roommate, we still wouldn’t be splitting the rent.

I feel like I’m stuck in life, it’s awful. I want to be a teacher and I’m trying to save up now and look for teaching jobs, which I know won’t pay a lot but it’s what I want to do and it still pays a bit more than what I’m doing now. Still living at home (27F) affects everything else in my life.
