Friendship advice

Soo I have this friend he’s 22 will be 23 by the end of the year, he’s recently been dating a 16 year old girl. She lied to him about her age, told him she was 18 and he broke up with her after that. Australia 16 is the age of consent.

I believe that he’s in the wrong because I don’t know how he couldn’t tell she was 16. My other friends don’t see the wrong, they say he’s not in the wrong because he didn’t know her age and they pretty much just look passed it. I think it’s disgusting and I can’t look at him the same way.

They had a relationship so they have had sex, and have done all the relationship type of things a young couple does.

I’m kinda at a standstill with my friend group. I’m the only one that thinks it’s gross. They couldn’t really care, 2 of my friends are police officers too so there’s that, I did ask them why they were being so quiet about it because they shouldn’t be, being in the job they have.
The response I got was ‘well if anything malicious was done I’m sure she would say something.’
But that’s deadset a child like she probably just had her sweet sixteenth
