Wipeouts?

About a month ago I switched from an mtb to a class 1 ebike because I moved somewhere with a lot more hill and everything more spread out generally. It's been great so far but I just recently within the past few weeks I wipes out on edge traps. Ledges the tires wouldn't grab on and the bike just fell. I definitely learned my lesson on not approaching these edges nearly parallel.

But I feel really silly for having this happen twice lol. Is this more common on ebikes? Is it just using smoother tires with less grip? What other things should I keep in mind that could end in crashes? My ebike isn't much heavier than my mtb, but is it a little. That's probably a factor too.
