Need some tips for Max Payne I suck at the game lol

I love almost everything about max payne 1 so far. The story, the music, the atmosphere and especially the comic panels are amazing! But I really suck at the gameplay. It really sucks cause I love everything else but it is brought down a bit by the fact I keep dying so so much.

My theory is that I’m messing up my shoot dodge, slow mo and movement. I’ve noticed and read online that moving around a lot seems to prevent damage and that has been working out mostly, but I’m still not quite sure how I ought to be moving about.

I have my suspicions I’m overusing the shoot dodge. I kinda just use it when breaching or every time I see an enemy. I feel like I’m bad at positioning with it, so after I just die but I’m not sure what I can do about it.

Slow-mo has the opposite issue. I’m underutilizing it. Prolly cause I kept shoot dodging by mistake, I have since rebound the key but I was wondering what are the best cases to use it? Also I really feel like it’s hard to hit moving enemies with it.

Also I swear how do you deal with grenades. Like the moment they are thrown, I basically cant do anything as they blow up so quick.

I enjoy so much about this it’s only the gameplay. I had a few moments where it clicks and it’s so fun. If I get better at the game I might just replay after beating it. Thanks for your help :D
