First time watching twin peaks!! Just finished season 2 episode 1, why does it feel weirder and more ankward now??

I know browsing a subreddit for a show I haven’t finished yet is a terrible idea, but I’d love some spoiler-free, behind-the-scenes context. Why does season 2 feel so much more... awkward and weird in the way the characters act and talk compared to season 1?

I'm somewhat familiar with this vibe since I've seen blue velvet (which is my only experience with david lynch besides twin peaks s1) and i don't hate it, but the vibe of the show definitely shifted after season 1, i don't really know how to explain it. I know i probably need to just push through and finish the season, but I'd love some context in the meantime!!! thankss❤️
