TL;DR: Kratos’s story reached a perfect end in Valhalla; continuing to make him hunt gods in new mythologies feels like repeating the mistakes of Ascension. Shifting the focus to Faye who brings back the fast, air combo heavy, classic combat style is the best way to evolve. It lets Atreus pursue his own destiny while using the hidden spirit realm to explore new mythologies and deeper lore without just rehashing the same "kill the god" cycle.

I want to be clear: I’m not saying anyone else's take is wrong or "shitting" on anyone’s preference. Gaming is subjective, and we all have different things we love about the series. This is just my personal take on where the story should go.

I believe we have reached a natural conclusion to Kratos's journey for now. After God of War: Valhalla, there is simply no story left to tell for him that wouldn't feel forced. He has already been through two pantheons. If the future of the series is just Kratos hopping from one mythology to the next to kill more gods, it would completely lose its impact.

We have already seen what happens when the series gets stuck in a cycle of repetition. God of War: Ascension proved that when you just try to re tread old ground or force a narrative where there isn't one, the quality suffers. If the new games just followed the same old formula of constant, repetitive destruction, the franchise would start dying all over again.

Why force another Kratos driven story when his arc has reached such a perfect, definitive end? Valhalla ends with Kratos accepting the mantle as the Norse God of War; his role has shifted from a destroyer to a protector.

Meanwhile, the board is set for something fresh.

Atreus’s journey is about exploring other mythologies to reunite with the Giants. That is *HIs* story to finish.

The Spiritual Plane( now confirmed to be the Everywhen): We know there is a hidden plane where Athena ascended to. Faye dying and going to that same place is a masterstroke. It opens up the world, giving us access to multiple pantheons and deep mythological history without needing to resort to the same tired tropes of just killing everyone in sight.

What makes this transition exciting is how it completely upgrades the combat. While Kratos has moved toward a more heavy, grounded style, Faye brings back the high octane energy of the original era, but better. She plays like a more refined version of young Kratos she is incredibly fast, capable of complex air combos, and utilizes og mechanics like double jumping. By blending this fast paced, fluid movement with a brand new side of the story, the developers have a chance to make something that feels like a true evolution.

Why in My Opinion Faye Being the Next Protagonist Was a Step in the Right Direction for the Franchise
