I had my first spider mite infestation a year ago with my grandpa's 20 year old China Doll plant. Was struggling with that with Captain Jacks Spider Mite spray. I would spray it every 5 days and think I got rid of them all, but they just kept coming back. Unfortunately when my grandpa died. My cousin asked for the China Doll and I gave it to her. And she was able to get rid of them with just rubbing alcohol. Like what the heck?! I tried that before the Mite spray and it did nothing for me.

Now fast forward to today. I was checking my plants with a flashlight (as I do about every couple of weeks) to check for bugs. And found nothing too concerning except, for one mealy bug on my Golden Jade plant. That was in a completely other room from this plant. I go into my spare room where I have a few other plants. And I'm checking my Croton plant, and BAM. I see webbing and mites. My immediate reaction "Not again, seriously?!". I had some Captain Jacks Dead Bug spray. And used that on the Croton tonight. And tomorrow morning or afternoon I'll probably give it a good bath in the sink. It's still a little Croton (not very big). So I'm hoping the damage wont be too bad. 

My question now is how can I prevent this from happening again? Is there some kind of spray I should get and spray on all of my plants every few weeks, months, what? And before you guys say it. Yes the Croton is isolated now. And I have checked my Golden Dust Croton I had next to it. As well as my Parlor Palm, Dragon Tree, and Philodendron. And all those seem okay, but I'll probably give those all a bath as well just as a precaution.  
  
I know less than 3 weeks ago the humidity level in my house as very low (my hyrometer said in the lower 30%). But now that it's gotten warmer in good ol' Iowa. It's now up to lower 60%. So not sure if just that lower humidity level made them go "oh yeah let's move in here". All my plants are also under a grow light so plenty of light is provided to each plant as well consistent watering when the soil is dry. Keep in mind the mites in this picture look bright white and round now because I just sprayed them. They weren't moving from what I saw but I definitely saw them sitting there. And the webbing looked exactly like the time the China Doll had them.
