MIT Hostels/PG
I have been seeing a lot of posts in MIT hostels and PG here is some info:
I haven’t heard anyone say a good thing about the hostels in campus. But tbh its kinda subjective too.
If its your first time in a hostel, pray you get a good roommate and if you do its and experience you will never forget.
Perks: its in campus, its safe, secure, you get the sweet campus life
Downsides: Timing restrictions, daily attendance, you have to walk till gate to get your food deliveries/amazon packages
Coming to outside hostels its pretty much the same, you just get that freedom of deliveries coming till your building.
And yes you do have to take parental permissions, write a letter to stay out. (not really sure about this one. I’m just speaking from past experience.)
Coming to PG’s, there’s a lot, I mean, a lot of PGs there is a line of PG’s everyone refers to it as Chintamani Park. I would suggest you to go there. Talk with the students around there to learn more about it. Downsides is it’s next to train station, so it’s loud plus, there is a cement go down next to it, so there’s a lot of dust like too much. we have a running joke, by the time graduate will be taking our degree and a bag of cement with us in our lungs.
Coming to perks, I’ve seen some PGs they don’t lock their gate, so you can go out and come back any time you want. All girls PGs mostly have timings. They are coliving PGs also, they separate girls and boys by floors. But most PGs have a lock in of 1 year.
There are PGs around the main road too.
Ask for photos, call them ask everything, is food included, the timings, do they have electricity backup, can you cook, wifi etc.
electricity cuts are a problem here
Now flats, there are a lot of independent buildings around. From what I have seen so far, you get fully furnished 1 BHK from 18K to 25K which is ridiculous. Most of the rent charges on the per basis I went with my friend to look for a 2BHK for two of us, there were four beds, so the Owner was like it will be 40K for 2BHK (Four avenues, its a gated society just in front of MIT)
If anyone is coming alone, i suggest stay in hostel or PG for some time find someone and get a flat if you want and if anyone can afford the 1BHK go for it.
The only good society that I found is Riverview City, but it’s pretty far from the college. Great if you have a scooty, i found one unfurnished 2BHK for 18k which is pretty reasonable.
all the best ig😂
Rant, forgive me:
Personal opinion but i think most will agree, Loni fucking sucks, i hate everything about that fucking place. its so freaking hot over there and the dust i would clean in the morning and in 5mins there is dust all over again. And those stupid brainless idiots who drive their bikes screaming as if the train isn’t loud enough. it’s so far from Pune. everyday i wake up asking myself Why am i here? i thank god everyday as a new day means another day closer to graduation so i can get the fuck out of here.
thank you for reading.
