Reddit Helped Me Discover R-CPD – Heading Into Botox Surgery Today

About Botox Treatment

About to have my R-CPD Botox procedure at Charité Berlin and wanted to share my story because Reddit is the only reason I even discovered R-CPD.

For as long as I can remember, I haven’t been able to burp. Looking back, my parents say I was able to burp as a baby, but even then I had extremely painful hiccups. I still get those painful hiccups today.
Over the years my symptoms included:
- Inability to burp
- Loud frog noises/gurgling from my throat
- Bloating and trapped air
- Very loud stomach and intestinal noises
- Painful pressure after eating or drinking

What many people don’t understand is how much this condition can affect your life socially. The loud noises and discomfort caused a lot of anxiety for me, especially in quiet situations. Seminars, lectures, exams, meetings, and social events were often stressful because I was constantly worried that everyone could hear my stomach or throat.
Honestly, every stage of my university education felt harder because of R-CPD. I spent so much energy trying to hide symptoms!

Finding this community was the first time I realized I wasn’t alone and that there was actually a name for what I was experiencing.

I’m heading into surgery in about an hour and will update afterwards. Hopefully my experience can help someone else the way other people’s posts helped me.
