Holding door open for strangers?

I'm staying next to a church. I go to see what all the church bells ringing is for and realize its easter. I walk in behind others but maybe not close enough for the large door to be held open for me..so OK. I open the door and hold it open, people walk in without looking at me or reaching for the door so i stand there like door man.
