SBA loans for small business, is the process always this painful or did I just get unlucky?

been going through the SBA 7(a) process for about 10 weeks now.

my business is a 4 year old plumbing company. profitable every year. personal credit around 700. i thought i was a pretty clean applicant.

the list of documents they've asked for keeps growing. started with 2 years of tax returns and a business plan. now they want personal financial statements, a list of all business debts, lease agreements, and something called a 'business debt schedule' that my accountant had to explain to me.

every time i submit something they come back with two more requests a week later.

is this normal or is my bank just being unusually thorough? and is there a point where it makes sense to just walk away and find a faster option even if the rate is higher?
