Nervous to start Cymbalta because of possible side effects (tapering)
I've been taking Zoloft for roughly 7 years at this point, and it's worked well to bring down my anxiety to a manageable level without too much trouble. That said, I still experience severe anxiety attacks at night, almost weekly, and they're unbearable.
So, the other day I went to my med specialist and she suggested putting me on Cymbalta instead, to help with my anxiety, energy levels, and fibromyalgia pain.
I was excited at first, but after I did some research on Cymbalta, I'm now terrified to start it because of the horror stories. I have debilitating emetophobia, to the point that I will go weeks without truly eating if I know somebody has recently been sick anywhere near me.
When I started Zoloft, my only side effects were tiredness and headaches (and maybe slight nausea, but honestly it could've just been my regular gut issues), so I'm wondering if there's a possibility that Cymbalta will have minimal side effects as well?
I really have no idea if the two are comparable when it comes to how they work in the body, or if I just got lucky with Zoloft.
My starting dose is 20mg of Cymbalta, but I'm wondering if I could start even lower and just count beads for a few weeks before working my way up, to minimize possible side effects?
Even taking Zofran for my regular nausea isn't enough to truly curb the sheer panic I feel when even remotely nauseated, so now I'm just... stuck with the fear of starting, and also the guilt of not giving myself the chance to possibly find a better anxiety med.
Has anyone else tapered in a similar way? If so, what was your experience?
