Marketing agencies keep leaving ClickUp. What's actually driving it?

ClickUp has everything. Genuinely, it has more features than almost any tool in the category. And yet the pattern of agencies outgrowing it or abandoning it is real and consistent enough that it's worth asking why.

The feedback I keep hearing isn't 'it doesn't have what we need.' It's closer to: 'there are so many ways to set it up that we set it up wrong, and now the system is more work than the work.' Too many views, too many automations nobody remembers building, too many custom fields that made sense six months ago.

For marketing teams specifically, the issue seems to be that ClickUp was designed for teams that like to configure things — and most marketing teams would rather have sensible defaults and spend that time on campaigns.

Has your team gone through a tool switch? What actually triggered it — and did the new setup solve the real problem or just create a different version of it?
