bad ping only in public matches

i’ve played fortnite for a long time, i don’t live SUPER close to servers but in the past my ping has always been decent. 20-30ms in public matches, zero build, battle royale, etc. about 5-20 ms in creative. for the last couple months whenever i’ve tried to play my bing is so bad in public matches, like the lowest ping i’ve been getting is 70-80ms and most matches i’m 90-100ms. in creative it’s gone up as well but i still get 20-30 ms. i literally feel like i’m playing on east when i’m located on west because the ping is so bad. and it’s not like it’s lagging or i’m stuttering, it’s just a constant 90-100 ms. i’m still getting 900+ mbps download speed and 14ms ping on speed test. fortnite is the only game that this happens on, every other game i’m in my normal 20-30 range. it even shows in settings under “auto-28ms” i’ve tried to change between auto and na-west and it still remains horrible. it makes the game unenjoyable. has anyone else experienced this???
