Hometown drama request:

My hometown is a suburb of Philadelphia. It’s called Hatboro and our school mascot was in fact a hat. Featured in buzzfeeds worst mascots in the USA. Our main drama was the opioid epidemic hit my town HARD, especially the high schoolers. Because we were a richer white majority suburb and people didn’t want their property values to go down, it was just never mentioned and got out of control. literally kids dealing opioids in school. No one wanted to taint the towns name so it was completely undiscussed until 2011 when they finally made a school campaign to stop it. By this point EVERYONE knew and our high school got nicknames Heroine High. I went to high school from 2016-2020 and even I knew all about it and knew all the dealers in school… ironically we had a dare program that clearly hadn’t worked.

The other huge news was our local bakery went viral because Trumps son came to visit. Every election Lochel’s Bakery bakes cookies of the candidates and you “cast your vote” by buying a cookie to see what the town is thinking. Welp Barron Trump came to get a Trump cookie in 2020 and our little town BLEW UP. People driving hours to get a cookie, a line down the street, and imaginable traffic. That wasn’t fun.
