Private WiFi address

Question

Don’t know how late I am to the party on this one or if it’s wide known at this point.

I have been struggling for the better part of a year or so know with subpar WiFi speeds on my Apple devices. I’ve tried about just every trick I could find on here & other subs, but nothing seemed to fix the issue overall.

I got to digging around last night on my phone itself (16 pro max), and got to wondering about the private WiFi address feature. I thought maybe there was some sort of potential connection flaw with using the “fixed” option on my home network vs just turning it off and letting the controller identify the device by its default MAC address.

So I turned it off and bam - instant speed boost. Was easily hitting my ideal speed on my phone, and WiFiman app actually seemed to measure on par with the Speedtest app. I then went and did the same for the iPad and it had the same outcome - much better than before.

Just wanted to post this in case anyone has had any issues that might be solved by doing the same. I know Apple is generally finicky with Unifi in general, but I really was starting to lose my mind. This change helped me regain a marginal amount of sanity.
