He said we should just eat ready meals. So now we do.
Something small that’s on my mind that I can’t share with anyone irl.
I like to cook. I always have since I was a teenager and during lockdown I had lots of time to practice so I’d say I’m pretty good at it now, I can whip up almost anything if I follow a recipe and I like experimenting with my own ‘recipes’ too. It’s a nice way to unwind after a long work day and ease into the evening. For me it’s also a way to show love, if you’re going through a hard time, I’ll cook you something or have you over for dinner. I’m also pretty frugal (grew up kinda poor) but like to eat healthy so I spent a lot of time meal planning and shopping to get good deals, experimenting with new recipes and making sure we are nourished with balanced healthy foods, especially since my partner stopped working recently so our income is low.
I do all of this because I want to and I enjoy it.
Recently though I bought a cut of meat that wasn’t the best and after taking one bite my partner wouldn’t finish it. I apologised and tried to salvage what I could of the meal bc I hate waste and
my partner said ‘we might as well just have ready meals every night’. My partner hates the cleaning up that comes with dinner (even though I always do the washing up etc) and prefers to get takeaways. So I’ve stopped cooking and just buy pasta bakes or oven/air fryer food now. Today for example I just bought microwave rice instead of normal uncooked rice to prepare. And I’m drinking huel or protein shakes for meals on my own because I just don’t have an appetite. The bit that hurts is so far my partner hasn’t noticed or cared.
