Guarding the U.S. Against Adversarial Robotics Dominance (GUARD) Act
Not to be confused with the already known American Security Robotics Act that only proposes a ban on Chinese robots for government use.
This new proposal wants to outright ban Chinese robots if they're determined to be a national security risk or ban them if they're never reviewed for their risk.
The legislation directs national security agencies to review adversary-produced humanoid and quadruped robots for national security risks. Products that are determined to present unacceptable national security risks will be placed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on its Covered List, prohibiting the machines from the United States. Products that are not reviewed within one year will be automatically added to the Covered List.
This appears to much of the same type of ban as the Chinese-software-in-cars ban that I believe was partly responsible for the death of FX.
Both of these proposals have bipartisan support.
