Why is our mental health (as a generation) deteriorating so much?

Opinion / Thoughts

I don’t think I have the energy to entertain any more people with their own problems. I do like to listen to people/ friends share their problems with me, i feel closer/special whenever someone does that but I feel like its taking a toll on my mental health. Specially when I myself have gone through a huge mental health issue for a large part of my till date life. Also the reason I get where they are coming from but when I see their problems from a third point of view, I feel like each and everyone of them needs a therapist/ psychiatrist because from a third pov their problems seem nonexistent or rather something they’re just overthinking. It also makes me feel bad for everyone (including myself) who has been at that place where this very non existent problem seemed like the end of world to them.

I was very chill the entire day today, listening to other people, giving advices and making them feel like it’s not the end. I can do all this now thanks to the meds im on, it makes me feel a lot less and life has been so much easier since i have started experiencing emotions with less intensity.

All of this makes me wonder why are we increasingly taking little inconveniences as end of the world, why are we not chill about it as we were in our childhood? Why are we not as tough as the previous generations? Are intense emotions responsible for it? If so then why are we not able to regulate it ourselves?

Now before you blame it all on phones/ laptops / internet/social media, I agree, yes they could be part of the reason, but not the entire reason.
