GICs at Questrade

I don't see many people discuss this, so just wanted to give a plug for purchasing GICs at Questrade.

It is done through their fixed income desk on web browser. You can choose from a long list of GICs and there is no cost to purchase. This service may be available from other discount brokerages (not Wealth Simple).

So today, through Questrade I purchased a 3.36% 1 year GIC and a 2 year 3.63% GIC (compounded annually, paid at maturity, not cashable).

I believe these rates are much higher than I could get from my big green bank, and I do not need the hassle of opening an account with another institution just to chase the yield.
